AUSTIN — While Texas officials insisted Tuesday that no decisions have been made about the future of football coach Mack Brown, a well-connected UT source said Brown is likely to step down this week after 16 seasons with the Longhorns. After Brown’s expected resignation was reported first by Orangebloods.com, UT athletic director Steve Patterson issued a statement Tuesday afternoon saying Brown had not resigned and that “we continue to discuss the future of Texas football.” Multiple UT sources said Brown, who was on a recruiting trip in Florida on Tuesday, hoped to meet with school president Bill Powers before announcing a decision.
